Umphrey's McGee Minneapolis reviews
One of the best shows of my 45 years going to concerts
I'll break my review into 2 sections. First, the band. I was turned on to Umphrey's McGee by my son about 5 years ago. This was my second show and to say it was phenomenal, is an understatement. The 6 musicians on stage are the best at their craft. Hard to put their music into one category because they practically embody every type of music there is. Just awesome. There are also members of the band who are not on stage, and need to be recognized for the awesome job they do. The sound and lighting (my son tells me it's a new guy doing lights) guys are the best around. Umphrey's McGee is an experience in some of the most awesomeness music and sights the will melt your face and blow your mind.
Now let me talk about the venue. The Fillmore is absolutely one of the best venues I've been to in a very long time. I was there back when it was the Jackie Gleason theater back in the day. They've done an amazing job renovating this iconic theater. I watched/listened to the first half of the show from the GA section on the floor, and watched the second half from the mezzanine. They were both equally mesmerizing.
If I have one complaint about the venue, it's the outrageous prices for drinks. $18 for a single and $24 for a double is way too much. I understand you have a captured audience but you don't need to rape us with these prices.
All that said, I will most definitely go to another Umphrey's McGee show, and if it's at The Fillmore, it will be so much better.
